Arrogance and real estate

We all like to believe that we are special, that are skills are unique. I have been in the real estate business for over 15 years. Before that I practiced criminal law, taught high school and college, coached track and field and have been involved in several start ups.The longer I am involved in real estate the more I realize that many of the things I do are formatted. Common sense dictates that you prepare the house, price it competitively, have professional pictures and a tour taken, promote the home on line, schedule open homes, etc. What I believe  separates me from some realtors is my humanity; I care. I try to approach my business with a sense of humanity. I truly believe in my commission structure. I do this for a living but if the situation warrants it I cut my fees even more. Am I compromising my services,NO. I believe that I work as hard for free as I do when I am being paid. The  problem I face is that sometimes people take my compassion for weakness and they seek to exploit my services. It does not happen very often but it does.It frustrates me and can compel me to react verbally. Should I stop trying to help and solely focus on financial returns. It is true that I do this for a living. I support a family with my earnings but to change would be impossible.I will try to learn from my experiences ,protect my feelings and not react.  If someone does not appreciate my efforts I will just move on. That is why I include the option to cancel at any time in my listing agreement. Thank you for listening to my ramblings.
